Overview
This course is designed to provide people with the skills responsible for traffic management implementation on category 1 low volume roads.
Recommendations
If you need to control traffic using a stop-slow bat as part of your job, we recommend you undertake the TC1 and TMI1 combo course.

RIIWHS303 - Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices
Prerequisite
You must have completed CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry or its equivalent unit to enrol in this course.
Coursework and Assessment
The assessment includes both theoretical and practical components and is delivered over 2 days of in class training. After completing the in-class theory and practical simulation, students are required to gain practical experience in the field and when ready undertake a final practical assessment in a live traffic environment demonstrating at least 3 different set ups on a category 1 road.
All practical experience requirements must be completed on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 1 roads within at least six months of successfully completing the in-class training. We will help you secure a work placement with one of our employer partners.
Certification
After you have successfully completed all the course requirements and assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) listing the Skill Set and associated Units of Competency.
Funding available
This course is proudly funded by Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). CITB is a whole-of-industry led organisation that provides support to attract, train and retain South Australian building and construction workers by providing leadership in training and skills development.
To be eligible for funding you will need to apply for a CITB number. An approved CITB number will allow you to obtain up to $3,000 of training subsidies.
