Our CPPCWHS1001 prepare to work safely in the construction industry ( Construction induction card or white card ) course provides you with the mandatory work health and safety training required to undertaking construction work.
The course will teach you how to develop personal safety awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
All people performing construction work require proof of having completed a general Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) construction induction training for the industry. An employer must accept a Construction Induction card which will allow you into the premises of a worksite.
Coursework and Assessment
This course is a competency-based training program made up of multiple-choice quizzes, verbal questioning and practical assessments. Course Structure Theory—Knowledge—you will learn and be assessed on: - basic duty of care, and the roles, rights and responsibilities of business owners and workers in relation to working safely while undertaking construction work - basic meaning of the terms ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’ · basic principles of risk management - basic procedures for accessing first aid - construction hazards - construction work that requires a high risk work licence - types, purpose and use of PPE used in construction, as specified in the performance evidence, and including safety footwear, harnesses and respiratory protection, and ultraviolet (UV) protective clothing and sunscreen - construction emergencies and construction incidents · safe work practices that should be followed in construction work - meanings and symbols associated with construction safety signs, symbols and tags Practical demonstrations—Skills—you will be assessed responding to practical scenarios in a simulated workplace environment and expected to perform demonstrations: - identify and orally report two construction hazards · orally explain how risk could be reduced or removed in relation to those two hazards - select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to control the risk – and correct fitting of - orally explain basic procedures for responding to incidents and emergencies, including types and purpose of fire safety equipment - Identify and orally explain the meaning of required safety signs and symbols - orally explain the purpose of job safety analyses (JSAs), safe work method statements (SWMS) and safety data sheets (SDS) - orally explain the roles

Victorian Licensing
Construction Induction cards do not expire and can often be used and are recognised interstate. Once you have competed your training Australian Academic Solutions will submit your details to WorkSafe to issue your Construction Induction Card. While you wait for your construction induction card to be issued, ( usually 2-3 weeks) you can use the ‘statement of attainment’ issued by us as proof of having completed the training for up to 90 days and can start working in the construction industry. Please note that some Victorian worksites only recognise Victorian issued Worksafe approved Construction Induction cards.
Interstate Licensing
Most Work health and Safety regulators recognise interstate Construction Induction cards. It is best to check with your state regulator to ensure you can use your white card if you move interstate.
